Course Description

As a parent, have you ever felt like you're struggling to control your child's behaviour, only to end up feeling more helpless and stressed? The truth is, trying to control your child is a recipe for frustration and burnout. But what if you could transform your parenting approach by letting go of the “illusion of control” and setting a new goal of “self-control” in its stead?

Our course introduces you to some of the most the powerful principles of Non-Violent Resistance (NVR), which starts with a fundamental shift: understanding that you can't control your child, but you can control your own actions and reactions. This shift will steeply reduce escalation, while making you stronger in acceptable and legitimate ways.

The Escalation Trap

We've all been there: caught up in a cycle of escalation with our child, feeling like we're in a battle for control. But escalation only weakens parents and damages relationships. Our course explores the different types of escalation and how they can undermine your parenting position. By recognizing and moving away from these patterns, you'll become a stronger, more effective parent.

The Power of Persistence

In NVR, the goal is not to "win" a battle with your child, but to persist and not give up. By adopting this mindset, you'll find that you're more effective and better equipped to handle challenging situations.

Striking When the Iron is Cold

One of the key principles of NVR is to address conflicts when the situation has calmed down, rather than in the heat of the moment. By "striking when the iron is cold," you'll be able to approach challenges with stability and confidence, rather than reacting impulsively.

Prioritizing

Our course will teach you how to be clear about which behaviours you want to resist and how to prioritize your efforts. You'll learn how to avoid getting pulled into the feeling that everything is of equal importance.

Putting Principles into Practice

Through a series of real-life scenarios, you'll see the NVR principles in action and how transformative they become in intense situations. By watching and engaging with these situations, you'll gain the confidence and skills to transform your parenting approach and become a steadier, stronger and much less escalating parent.
